This spicy Dhal recipe is one of my mum’s favourites. So what better way for me to illustrate my post on the health benefits of spices, than by sharing this gorgeous dhal with you.

DETOX SPICY DHAL RECIPE

Ingredients

50 g red lentils
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 inch of root ginger (grated)
2 cloves garlic
2 rounded tsps spice mixture (see below)
1 veggie stock cube

Spice Mixture (blend this together and use 2 tsp)

Turmeric 2 tsp
Ground cinnamon 2 tsp
Ground ginger 1 tsp
Ground fennel half tsp
Ground cloves half tsp

METHOD

Dissolve the stock cube in hot water
Cook the lentils in the stock with the onion, garlic, ginger and spices until the lentils have mushed

TAKE CARE NOT TO BURN THEM

 

Serve with rice and meat or fish.
